Your Awakening Is Now

IMG_6815Your Infinite Self is the eternal person inside of you who operates out of an endless source of purity, liberated from all limits. Within your Infinite Self lies this eternal truth: Your greatest treasure is you, in all your shining glory, given freely as a gift to the world. The realisation of this treasure is a matter for you, and you alone. You are the only holder of the key and the unlocker of your soul.  When it comes to matters of your passion, your purpose, your place, there are no questions that can be asked or answered outside of your person, because it is all you, every precious part of it. Your fulfilment will not be obtained by anything you take on from the world around you, nor will it be earned by anything you do amidst your busy days. Your deepest fulfilment can only be gained as you connect with the eternity that dwells within you. There are no actions that can possibly come close to reflecting the endless expanse of the person you have always been, in the secret place. It is only as you refine yourself down to liquid gold that your treasure can be poured out. Your world has been waiting for the flow that only you can dispense from your Infinite Self, but you bravely declare that you are willing and invested, because who you are was always purposed to flow freely.

You already have everything you need to activate your own awakening

Your Infinite Self exchanges pride for confidence, so you can stand tall with your head held high.  At your core, you are adorned with a halo of honesty, and the robes of generosity.  The motives of your purest heart are always true. This heart craves a transparency that opens its arms wide to welcome intimate connection with others. Your Infinite Self is unbroken, having been made strong and confident in forgiveness and restoration. From this wholeness, your vulnerability is your greatest strength, because it is secure in a trust that extends only from your grace, without the blemish of fear, doubt or defensiveness. Your Infinite Self is complete in every way.

Your Infinite Self longs for you to pursue growth into the space that is free from the pain of old wounds, the toxicity of offence, the destruction of learned negative behaviours, the exhaustion and self-loathing of perfectionism, and the eroding effects of compromise. Your Infinite Self relies on you standing tall as an advocate, willing and able to advance the pathway of liberated expression, which requires an integrity that purifies you. This cleansing is a life-long expedition of refinement that will see you progressively remove sedimentary deposits of hurt, brokenness, destructive habits, poisonous mindsets, unforgiveness, and insecurity. As you come to rid yourself of these parasites, you begin to unearth the beautiful, powerful you that was hidden in there all along.

When your belief system is perfectly in line with your actions, your Infinite Self heaves a sigh of relief. It is liberating to have the burden of inconsistency and compromise lifted from your shoulders. In your Infinite Self there is no conflict, because you are in tune with your inner motives and your actions in the world. Who you are in yourself is perfectly aligned with who you are in the world. As this cleansing journey unfolds, Your Infinite Self comes to experience the empowering release of knowing that purity of heart is where freedom dwells.

Infinite Self, you are a perfect parcel of every good thing. You are more precious than a rare treasure, you are a momentary sparkle in all of creation that will never be seen again.

Purpose Without Passion Is Killing Us

Australia is the third richest country on the planet, and we have more people who enjoy the creature comforts of the middle class than any other nation in the world. I know I love our country. I feel lucky to be an Australian. My favourite thing about living in this country is the land and our gorgeous coastlines, without a doubt. I am convinced that a deep gratitude for nature feeds an optimism that will never end.  We have a gorgeous country with lots to love. But honestly, what’s the go with our mental health?

img_3687Anxiety and depression stop our freedom at work, at home and at play. One million Australian adults will struggle with depression this year alone, and this number is doubled for those who face anxiety, our nation’s leading mental health problem. Depression and anxiety is set to become our nation’s leading health problem by the year 2030, and it is already the world’s leading cause of disability. Suicide is the leading cause of death for all of our nation’s youth, for men under 54 years, and for women under 35. This is a truly devastating crisis we have on our hands.

Studies show that an active passion for our purpose brings fulfilment more than anything else on the planet. The research proves that when we want to change ourselves and our world, and when we believe that we can take action to improve our health, we get healthier, in our mind and our body. It’s not rocket science! But what changes do we make, and how do we know that we’re making the right ones? The big question that I am asked more than any other is this: How do we find our Passion?

The answer is not in reinventing yourself, or finding “the New You”. We already have everything that we need to find and follow our deepest passions. These 7 steps make this life changing task not only possible, but relatively easy:

P – People: Who is in your network?

Which five people do you already know who will come along side you in support and encouragement? We all need a team of cheering mentors, and you already know people who are perfect for the job. Start making the most of those relationships, by listing them and contacting them today.

A – Aptitude: What are your natural strengths?

What things do you enjoy doing, that come easily to you? What are the things that you become so in the flow with that time seems to stop when you are doing them? For me, writing and speaking come easily, and connecting with those around me. What do you do without trying. Your passion is an expression of those things.

S – Skills: What have you learned how to do?

What have you done at work, at home, or at play that have created the unique skill set that you are equipped with today. Pull out your resume from the archives and take a trip down memory lane. And ask your cheer squad to remind you of things that you have done in the past. We often down-play our abilities, but our passion needs us to champion them again.

S – Stuff: What resources do you have?

We all have physical possessions that will help us find and follow our passions. Chances are that if you have a passion for art you will be able to get your hands on the things you need for your next masterpiece. If you’re into cooking, get yourself into your kitchen, and if you’re a muso at heart, it’s time to pull your instrument out from the back of your wardrobe. Find the equipment you need to enliven your passion again.

I – Imagination: What do you dream?

At various stages of our life, each one of us dreamed of being great. We wanted to do something that we were good at to made a difference in the world. If you have had the guts to pull out that first draft of your biography, then it’s time for you to remember the dream that you had of being that inspiring author. Be honest, be brave, and imagine that dreams really do come true.

O – Opportunity: What can you change?

They say that you make your own luck. Anne Landers says that opportunities are usually disguised as hard work. It’s time for us to roll up our sleeves and start making changes to expose the opportunities that exist in our life now. For some, these changes will be tweaks and adjustments, because you’re on track and simply need to focus, but for others, the changes you make will create opportunities that change the course of your life forever.

N – Now: What are you waiting for?

Our life is only experienced in our “Now”. Yesterday is gone and tomorrow never comes. Today is the day we own up to ourselves, and be accountable to the next step. We need to realise we already have everything we need to activate our passion. Nothing can stop people who know how to continuously renew the energy they need to experience purpose that is fuelled by passion, every day.

Find and Follow Your Deepest Passions

A purpose without passion will drive us crazy. Passion fuels our purpose, and keeps us on track with our progress in it. A purpose that has no passion will eventually die because it will lie unrecognised and unfulfilled within us, and the longer we leave it, the worse it gets. If we don’t have passion to drive our purpose, then our purpose be like a cancer in our life, eating away at our ability to push through even the most simple of challenges. But with passion, our purpose drives every action and reaction towards success, even when we face changes that turn our life upside-down. Passion is so powerful that it turns every obstacle into the fuel of our purpose.

Fulfilment comes from awakening our passions

Maslow tells us that the deepest, most lasting fulfilment comes from the realisation of our unique potential. His theories talk directly to the problem of the increasing problem of the depressed middle class in the country that we call Lucky. He says that: “It is quite true that man lives by bread alone — when there is no bread. But what happens to man’s desires when there is plenty of bread and when his belly is chronically filled?”

So here’s the big question that I am asked more than any other: How do we find our Passion?

I am convinced that we already have everything that we need to find and follow our deepest passions. These 7 steps make this life changing task not only possible, but relatively easy. Make a list and take action for each of these steps. Today is the day your life will change.

P – People: Who is in your network?

A – Aptitude: What are your natural strengths?

S – Skills: What have you learned how to do?

S – Stuff: What resources do you have?

I – Imagination: What do you dream?

O – Opportunity: What can you change?

N – Now: What are you waiting for?

The reality is, we only have now. Even the moment that you started reading this post is over, and you are on the brink of the moment that you reach the end. Memories are valuable, but they have already been lived. Ambitions are enlivening, but they haven’t come to pass yet. The only moment we actually experience is the one we are in, right now. It is time to take ownership of our passion. Today is the day you can find it, and today is the day that you can start to follow it, without limits. That is Unstoppable Freedom.

Unstoppable Freedom

Freedom has always been a fundamental priority in my life. For as long as I can remember I have valued freedom more than anything else. Freedom is central to healthy, successful continuation of life, because it enables every possibility thereafter. Freedom is the starting point of all fulfilment. It is the cornerstone of our ability to act with autonomy, the foundation of all healthy relationships, and it sets the scene for hope that we can make things better. Freedom is vital to our authority to pursue and achieve any thing we choose in all areas of our personal and professional lives.

When we are free we feel safe and empowered, which means that we can express and expand the fullness of our own identity. This freedom allows us to grow because when we are free we can direct our personal pathway, we can invest deeply into relationships, and we can pursue the deepest desires of our heart. Our level of freedom determines our capacity for the sort of success we drive ourselves. The way I see it, the more freedom we have, the more we can experience love, pursuit, and advancement. When we are free we can come and go, we can live and love.

The absence of freedom puts a stop to our pursuit of any sort of positive change. A lack of freedom means that we can’t direct our futures towards improvement. It puts a stop to the growth and development of those in our care, our relationships, our finances, our businesses and our capacity at work. Most of all, when freedom ends, so too does our health and wellness, because fulfilment relies on us acting powerfully towards outcomes that we define, pursue and achieve ourselves.

Freedom challenges injustice and provides for our journey through our shortcomings. When we are free we can rise and fall, we can try and fail, all because we have embraced these human liberties as our right, without undermining these rights for others. True freedom is not reliant on success, nor does it deny the freedoms of another when they fail. Rather, it sets a course of pursuit within a landscape of respectful acceptance. Freedom that imposes on another, or freedom that is quenched by failure was never freedom at all. Freedom is not anarchy. Freedom is right and fair and just. With freedom we respect and embrace every one’s right to fail.

For freedom to be without end, we rise to the fullness of our autonomy. We put ourselves in the driver’s seat of our lives, and we choose to act in the fullness of our power in all areas. I call this Unstoppable Freedom:

Unstoppable Freedom (noun)

A self-perpetuating state of liberty without limits, untethered by the struggle for mere survival.  A lifelong journey which exploits the opportunities found in hardship to actualise a higher, exceptional purpose.  Unstoppable freedom feeds itself as a snowball, where one leap of purpose-driven advancement triggers the next. It is the very nature of empowerment, the very essence of growth.  It is both the cause of strategic change, and the effect; it grows exponentially at the hand of the autonomous driver who always seeks new expressions of purpose.  Unstoppable freedom strategically uses the mindset, skills and gratitude of today’s liberty as a launch pad into more freedom.  It satisfies the innate human need for self-actualisation, while simultaneously causing an invigorating hunger for more.

Unstoppable Freedom brings outlooks that cause us to thrive amidst any change or challenge, because we come to maximise the opportunity inherent in that shifting situation.  We embrace all change, no matter how difficult it is as the fuel for growth and the catalyst for empowerment.  It is change that calls us to draw on the strengths and resources we already have, and it is change that allows us to drive every circumstance to possess rewards we have defined ourselves. In change we learn, we grow, we thrive. In change, we change!

This pathway is one forged by those who celebrate life: in love, in learning, and even in loss. To embark on the journey of  Unstoppable Freedom is to empower yourself to live to serve your deepest passions without limits.

You Are Infinite

IMG_0206I have given myself completely to my belief in goodness.  With all that I am, I have invested into revealing every part of the goodness in myself, which then enables me to shine a light on the goodness in everyone around me. The more I expand my capacity for freeing my own goodness, the greater my ability to affect others to the same end. When our investment is in the ongoing release of goodness, the floodgates of purity open, and its wholesome flow nourishes us all.

My wholehearted belief in goodness is simple: I see it in every single person I meet. I never, ever measure people by their words or their deeds alone. Who am I to assume that I understand someone right to their core after simply observing them at a passing moment in time? The true, endless value of a person is found in the condition of their heart, and when all is said and done, all of our hearts, at their most pure, unbroken state, are clean and worthy of love. It is not mine to judge nor condemn, only to love and be loved. It is in this raw humanity that goodness can be seen, not only in some, but in every one.

It is because I witness goodness in people so consistently that I know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, you too have a perfect, untainted goodness at your core. Who you are is the substance of purity, the essence of perfection.  You exist first to let your goodness shine, flooding your world with a wash of radiance, transforming the atmosphere with your glow.

Your Infinite Self emanates your unique goodness in its most pure form. It is a delightful, you-shaped goodness that is unlike anyone else’s. There has never been a person in history with your perfect blend, nor will there ever be in future. You are a one-of-a-kind, a collector’s prize, as unique as a snowflake and as perfect as the clearest crystal. You are deeper than the ocean and vaster than the darkest starry night. You are more of a treasure than all of the jewels in the king’s palace. You are golden.

Possessing The Spoils

Taking hold of that thing burning in your heart requires more than hoping and praying. You will only ever bring that spectacular thing to life if you ready your mind, fix your gaze, and dare to take the leap that will change everything, forever. In the moment that you dare to own your opportunity, you grab it with both hands, and you are alive like never before. You know that this is what you were born for.  This magic moment will set you free and make it all worthwhile.

The golden sun of reward shines when you step out of the shadow

To possess the spoils of your power, you see yourself taking deliberate strides of action. Strategic, intentional strides that leave no room for question, doubt or pause. These strides are those of your Infinite Self taking action in your world, and they are a sight to behold. They propel you along a pathway of constant improvement and they lead you to places that were once only a dream. These strides drive you to take hold of the prize that you have longed for. You move forward, inch by inch, moment by moment, into the rewards of your efforts.

You look around at an unknown landscape, humbled by the progress, silenced by the loneliness, and terrified by the strange new sights. You have never been here before, but you know there is no turning back. The people here are foreign, but they will be your new companions. The choices here are confusing, but you have confidence that you will find your feet. The opportunities here are ones you have never encountered before, but they glisten like the sun and they assure you that you are in the right place. Here is where you always wanted to be. This new world holds the chances you hoped for and the rewards that you wanted all along.

The fact that it is all new is not cause for alarm. It is cause for celebration. You have already done away with the Old. This is the New that your choices have brought you to. This is the blue-ribbon prize, the pot of gold, the field with the greener grass. It is strange to be here, but you know that you are spoiled for anything else now. To persist and continue in the break-throughs that await are the only options that your Infinite Self will allow. So relax … enjoy … settle in. This is real. It is the reality that you have created with the work of your hands. It is real because you made it so.

These steps are not an imagination or whimsy. They are not the positive affirmation you tell yourself in the bathroom mirror, or the dream of someone that wished their life away. These steps are alive and active. They are as deliberate and as powerful as the striking of a hammer, and they take you into successes that transform the landscape of your life. You watch the point of no return come and go, and you are still pushing forward, like a bull at the gate of your opportunity.

With everything inside, you know you will never go back. You are done with old ways of thinking, acting, talking, being. Your hands are clean, your heart is pure, and your eyes are like an eagle’s, set firmly on the rewards of the journey that you can inherit today. Take time to bask in this sunlight that shines when you are outside of the shadow. You have earned it. You are alive here in this new place of growth, and you are free.

Our Words Are Our Power

I love being introduced as Kerry Anne Nelson. It is perfectly appropriate because it is actually my name, so that works well! But if you and I were closer, you would know that I am rarely called Kerry Anne in my everyday life. If you were my Aunty Sandy, you would call me that. If you were my mum loving on me, you would call me Kerry Anne for sure, and you might even venture to Kerry Anna… or if you were my dad and I was annoying you, you would definitely call me Kerry Anne. These days, being called Kerry Anne has special significance for me.

In our stories we gather everything we need to grow

My dad’s voice still speaks to me loud and clear as an adult, with his words echoing in my years all these decades later. “Think before you speak Kerry Anne” was something he used to say … A LOT! In my younger years I found this so completely frustrating and it made me angry, because it felt like he was trying to silence me… but now, I see the wisdom in those pearls. Some things need to be silenced, while others need to be shouted from the rooftops. The trick is knowing what’s what. You see, I am a talker and a sharer … I always have been. But now, as an adult, with a few seasons of growth and change under my belt, I prefer the title Professional Speaker. It is far more flattering than the names I used to attract like “chatterbox” or “loudmouth”. What I especially like about the title “Professional Speaker” is that it starts to give us a clue about the power I have found in being intentional with the things I say. It dawned on me a little while ago that Kerry Anne Nelson was the perfect Professional Speaker name, because I am thinking before I speak, Kerry Anne!

Our words are connected to our power. In fact, these two parts of ourselves are tied so closely that I would call them inseparable. Both the words we say to ourselves, and the words we say out loud to others, direct us through life like a rudder on a ship. Proverbs says that the power of life and death is in our tongue, and Ghandi says “A man is but the product of his thoughts. What he thinks, he becomes.” This means that our power is our words … In fact, it means our words have so much power that we actually become them.

Who we are and how we travel through life’s journey hangs on the power of our words. Truly knowing this as a transforming reality is empowerment defined. We all share the same superpower: Our words create reality. Let’s choose words of Life! Freedom! Success! Joy! Courage! Health! Growth! Let’s use our words to create our own personalised experience of Unstoppable Freedom

Possess Your Power

People watching is one of my favourite activities. We human beings are mesmerising subjects, and under the microscope of observation the fascination only gets better. When I look at the people around me on a good day, I feel great, and the world looks grand. On that day, people look how I feel. They look smiley and confident and generous and kind. People look like they have everything they need to make progress in their life, and I am happy for them, down to my core. I want each person I see to take their own powerful steps towards growth along their own unique path. When I am operating out of my fullest, most liberated self I have not even the slightest inclination to compare myself with others because I am too busy enjoying the fact that I am enough. I am too busy embracing the fact that my journey, with all its challenges and all its spoils, are satisfyingly mine.

Comparison with others is swapped out for wholeness when we champion our  own power to move strategically

On a bad day, people look different. On this day I look out at the world around me and I am sick and tired of being sick and tired. I am mind-numbingly aware that I work too hard at working hard, and I sit back wishing that it could all be different.  From this outlook, we are entitled, acting as if we are somehow destined to have the successes we want in our life, without making the choices we need to transform moments into opportunities. We haven’t done what we need to do to enjoy the spoils of our success now. People do look different from this perspective: they are always further ahead than I am. They seem richer, smarter, healthier, happier. The sight that meets my eyes triggers the misery of my own internal bitterness. From this self-righteous mindset I risk being corrupted by my own jealousy, unless I take action towards my own progress.

We Possess new directions for our Infinite Self in Opportunity by taking strategic action in the world around us

I have found benefit in comparing ourselves not to other people, but more broadly, to other living things. It is a wonderful thing indeed to celebrate simply being alive, and to pull wisdom from a more intuitive way of being. Living things move their bodies. This movement is not initiated or caused by an external force but it is independent and directed by the living thing itself. The movement of living things allows them to source energy, to obtain essential requirements such as water or air, to respond to the environment, to reproduce, or to protect itself from a threat. The movement of the living thing is central to its ability to sustain its own life. As a human being, my health and happiness depends on my ability to move purposefully towards the things that I need for my own unique fulfilment.

Time passes and things will never stay the same, but our ability to redirect the flow of our circumstances is what defines us as unstoppable. When my back is against the wall in my health, my relationships, my business or my emotions, I must do something different. Strategic action is the only way that that I can actively Possess a new outcome. It is not enough to survive in this world. Thats what we have been doing all along. Simply pulling yourself out of bed and doing activity while time passes is a lifestyle, but it’s not living. To enjoy a freedom that can’t be stopped we must exchange surviving for thriving by moving strategically.

  1. MOVE ONLY TOWARDS INTENTION: I direct everything I do towards my Plan A. There are no short-cuts to the fulfilment of Plan A, and there is no prescribed route either. When life throws me off course, I respond by rerouting back towards my aims, intent on pursuing only what I need in my life to be happy.
  2. MOVE ONLY TOWARDS AUTONOMY: I know that I am the only one who can move myself, and I embrace that responsibility as a privilege. I am most powerful when I am taking ownership of my happiness. It is always up to me to move
  3. MOVE ONLY TOWARDS REWARD: I run at the point of no return like a bull at a gate, energising the steps I need for my future by enjoying the spoils of the steps I took in my past. I know that my daily journey is the inheritance I give myself so I squeeze every bit of joy from my Have-It-Now inheritance.

Activating our Power in the world opens our eyes to the fullness of the gains we can make only if we follow through to Possess these gains. Our Infinite Self will come into its own like never before when we drive every Powerful action towards success in areas we have defined for ourselves.

The Moon

Not only do I love living this life that I personally get to experience, but I treasure the fact that, as a human being, I get to share the same sorts of experiences with others. We all have so much in common in this world. With every rotation of our shared planet all of us are blessed with an array of sights, sounds, smells, tastes and feelings. At some point life serves us all with delicious, mouth-watering food, refreshing drops of rain, and the invigoration of a cool breeze. We have all been spoiled by the smell of rain, the boom of thunder, and the razor-sharp crack of a bolt of lightning. We have all known the hopeful promise of a glowing sunset.

I delight in so much of the world that we all get to live in, but without a doubt, I love sharing the moon with you more than any other thing. She is tantalisingly elusive and mysterious most of the time, exchanging the limelight for the modest beauty of collaboration; she yields to reflect the fire of the sun, to dance with the sparkle of the stars, and to drape herself with the costume of the clouds as they pass by.  But the moon knows her worth. She is in no rush. She will wait. With patience, she is content to work selflessly alongside those around her. But … when she is ready, and when heaven’s array provides a window of opportunity, the moon makes time serve her. In that moment, the moon shows that she is willing to radiate her own glorious perfection, without shame or fear. In her fullness, the moon is breathtaking. She rises with a voluminous, golden power that refuses to be ignored, then hoists herself up into the night sky to continue her stunning display. From her dark stage she shines, at first blanketing the fields with comforting warmth and grace, then projecting her clear, cool beam into any dark place that will have her. The ocean is a mirror for her glamour, magnifying her radiance to show the world that she is the fairest of them all. She splashes her light over us all without hesitation or discrimination, generously showering every part of creation with her brilliance, her sensuousness, her charm. She gushes love over each one of us equally.

I love that the moon presses on with the show right through the night. She is tireless. She rises higher, and shines stronger, and soars with more freedom. Her performance started with glory at the horizon, and then it persisted in a dazzling array of light up into the sky. And even though it is truly marvellous, the show still goes on longer, and with every part of her progress, the moon slowly reveals her intention. As she stretches further and ascends higher, the moon demonstrates that she is planning to climb to the top of the sky. As she scales the heavens she is relentless, unveiling still more of her energy, her grandeur, her authority. But in mastering this display of endurance, power and might, a perfect tragedy unfolds. The higher the moon becomes, the more distant her audience perceive her to be.

It was only a few hours ago that we all stared, our mouths watering over the glitzy celebrity moon as she announced herself from the horizon’s curtain. And she looked like she was close, because she was down here on our level, emerging from the skyline of the life that we know. But now, as she makes her way to the highest heights, she moves away from those familiar features of the landscape, and our human eyes can’t see that she is still just as close as she always was. Yes, she has her sights set on making it all the way to the top, but at no point in her journey will her distance from earth change. She will look like she is further away, but this is merely a trick played by our own limited minds. The moon’s climb to the pinnacle of her atmosphere cannot possibly take her any further away from the earth. She is held by the earth’s orbit. This world is the only home that the moon will ever know. The moon’s grandest act can only be performed in connection to the world she illuminates.

And the moon knows. She started the show with the intention of making the world brighter for her audience. And it was beautiful. And we watched. And we adored her. And the moon was happy, but not because of our human attention. The moon was happy because of her eternal intention. She never drew her energy from the accolades of the crowd, but from the drive of her mission. Her only motivation was to shine her light as far and wide as possible. As the gaze of the audience is lost, and our short span of attention turns to the comfort of our lounges and the coziness of our beds, the moon’s true nature is the only thing that is left. The most beautiful thing about the moon to me is that she is unstoppable in her passion. If you look out of your window in the early hours of the morning of the moon’s show, you will see her still there. Climbing. Striving. Persisting. Driven. Fulfilling her Purpose. Serving her Passion. Because it is who she is.

The Moon Show is a tragedy, but this is what makes it the most beautiful part of all.  It is beautiful because she radiates the fullness of her perfection. Because she pursues only her highest passion. Because she only exists to shine in service. Because she is compelled continue. Because no-one is watching. Because it is there for all the world to see, yet no-one sees it. Because I want to be her.

Perceive Your Moment

There are times in life that bring change that is completely unexpected, and too often we fall into the trap of interpreting these events as a disaster. It is so easy to view the world from the comfort zone of the normal, the predictable, the familiar … From this place, we think that fulfilment can only be experienced when all of life’s good things remain just as they are. The problem is that when changes come out of the blue and hurl us into an unknown landscape, our head spins us till we are dizzy and blind. Our first reaction is to feel intimidated and powerless, terrified that our personal limitations are going to usher in the day we have been dreading for as long as we can remember: the day where we finally come undone. The task of confronting our own fear and doubt is horrifying for some, nauseating for others. When a shift in circumstance comes out of the blue, we are forced to face the reality that things never stay the same.

Our Infinite Self tells a different story. She replaces fear with hope, doubt with trust, and dismay for celebration. In pure, blissful Optimism, she expects that every unfolding circumstance will serve her best interests, because she is confident in her ability to find every opportunity that is hidden in life’s twists and turns. She knows that the trick to freedom is realising that change is inevitable, and always as good as a holiday. She never makes the mistake of calling any moment a crisis or disaster, because she optimistically defines them as her Next Big Chance.

We Perceive the function of our Infinite Self with Optimism by making meaningful personal connections in the world around us

The day we decided to close the doors of That Repair Shop could have been the bleakest day for us, because it was a choice that we made in response to the very real threat of bankruptcy.

But it wasn’t.

Our choice to redirect our focus towards building other online income streams was not made out of fear or doubt. Yes, we had no idea how things were going to turn out. Yes, we were terrified. Yes, we were intimidated. And yes, the change caused an unprecedented level of discomfort. But no, this was not how things were going to stay. There was change in the air, and we threw ourselves into the pursuit of a freedom that is unstoppable. We maximised this change by actively believing that the future could be as bright as we hoped. It was a gamble that hinged on absolute investment. And we gave ourselves to it with abandon.

Our insecurities called us to a pathway of retreat, but instead, we decided once again to stretch ourselves and our vision into the big wide world. We took steps not of self-preservation, but advancement into the deepest passions of our heart. We launched ourselves out of the corner we found ourselves in by using the hardship as a launchpad into a world of possibilities. We decided to open our hearts wider to the world than we ever had before, believing that the world was our opportunity-making oyster. We trusted every good thing would come to us, and we put our money where our mouth was, literally! We acted on the hope that it would actually turn out okay in the end, knowing that if it wasn’t okay, then it wasn’t the end, so we could keep going.

We took this outlook into the next season of our lives, enjoying the pursuit of success almost as much as its spoils along the way. At the end of the day, we realised that random, unpredictable events will happen. This is certain. But, we also learned that our response can exploit obstacles for growth that couldn’t have come from any other pathway. We saw first hand that Our Infinite Self is always Optimistic because she thrives amidst interactions with a world whose only constant is lack of certainty. Even with our backs against the wall, we could run free in the knowledge that true expression comes from demonstrating our Infinite Self through the interactions we have with the world around us.

When we are clear on our mission in life, our responses in the day-to-day can be used to direct us right through the eye of the storm into a rich fulfilment that could not be experienced any other way.

  1. RESPOND TO YOUR SEASON: Our greatest pride should be the one we have in knowing ourselves and our passions, so that when the unexpected Change comes, we know how to direct our response towards deep fulfilment at all times.
  2. RESPOND WITH INVESTMENT: We should always take action that throws us into the pathway of realising our passions, regardless of how harrowing this pathway might be.
  3. RESPOND TO THE CAUSE: We should realise that off-the-cuff reactions attend only to the urgent demands of the moment, which are like the symptoms of a cold. But strategic responses direct everything we have towards the Passions of our heart, which attends to the greatest cause of all: the full expression of our Infinite Self.
